2's Company, 3's a Crowd

3 weeks in Oz over xmas taught me that taking photos in sunny weather is so much easier and in many ways, more rewarding. Everything looks so much better bathed in golden sunlight. £80 later and I've got all the prints back from the trip. Whilst sifting through the little jessops pouches of promise I found a few shots that I think work well together. Below is a series of pairs from the last month or so.

Hugh & Roy shot with the 50mm @ f1.8

Hugh & Abi shot using Canon Speedlite 199a Flash

Hugh reading on Manly Beach, Sydney.

Man dives off the rocks, North Bondi, Sydney.

Various repeat patterns, Bondi, Sydney.
The photo above was taken a couple of weeks back in Crystal Palace Park and it wasn't until I'd had it developed at Asda on the Old Kent Road that I realised its startling resemblance to that scene in E.T.

Anomalous Materials

Besides printing 1,300 travel photos and snapping a few rolls of 35mm here and there, my creative output since returning from the world has been somewhat lacking. As a result of renewed and persistent support and threats from friends and family alike I have decided to make a concerted effort to pull my finger out and get on with it.

On the cards is;
  • Displaying those 1,300 photos in several albums/books
  • Organising the draw full of material collected from my travels into some form of collage/book/art piece/memoir
  • Keeping this blog updated
  • Redesigning http://www.mylesbarrell.com
  • Getting back into stencil work
  • Picking up the t-shirt printing business
  • Wind, twist and clicking more film photos
  • Developing and maintaining my beard for Biffy Clyro on the 12th November
'Blady ell' you're thinking?! Well like Hugh said to me the other day, whats the point in having the skills if you're going to waste them?

Thanks everyone for a foot in the ass in the right direction.
